I'll drink to that. I'd love to visit St. James's Gate someday. I hear the Guinness is great over there. Closest I've been is London.

It certainly is. There are many that I like, but there's only one that I always come back to. It's like comfort food.

I try to drink new and interesting beers every time I go to the store. But this one is always consistent, pleasant and as another commenter said "a comfort food"

I am lucky enough to have been. It was great. Nearly down the street, you also have to do the Jameson distillery tour.

I love the stuff, but the only thing that could make me gassier than the morning after a Guinness streak is Shiner Bock, and it's close. Something about that stuff just does bad things to me.

I agree. Now don't get me wrong, I do think there are a lot of tastier beers out there, but something about Guinness is just so... cozy. It's my default beer of choice.

I do love me some Guinness. One of my favorite beers has always been Abita's Turbodog. That chocolate malt is fraking tasty. Lately I've been really into hard ciders and cider-beer blends though. If anyone has any suggestions for good ones, I am always looking for new alcohol to sample.

In defense of Guinness compared to the wonderful beers you posted. I can walk into nearly any "pub" anywhere in the world, and order a Guinness and likely be able to afford it as well.
Quality wise? Yeah, I'll take about 400 beers before I get to a Guinness. But, it's great for what it is.

This is quite a tasty brew, too. My girlfriend wanted an interesting dessert for her parents' St. Patty's Day party, so we found an Irish Car Bomb cupcake recipe. It called for Guinness, but this worked better in the cupcake. Couple that with a Chocolate & Jameson filling topped with a Bailey's frosting, and you had a big hit on your hands.

It's funny because people think this stuff is hard to drink, I remember a night in my younger years where I brought a 12 pack of guinness to a party for beer pong and everyone was like "oh you're gonna be fucked"
By the end of the night when they were all passed out from drinking shitty ice beer and I was still standing I had the last laugh, then I proceeded to bet a kid he wouldn't eat a spoonful of wet cat food, then when he did I had to match him. Talk about shitty breathe the next morning...
Not the greatest beer but yeah it's got a place in my heart

I am a beer nut also, and though there are many, many awesome beers out there, there are just a few 'normal' beers that are great just in their perfection, and bring up warm feelings every time I come back to them. Guinness, Warsteiner, Pilsner Urquell, and yes, PBR.

Little known fact: Guiness is not black, but officially a very dark shade of ruby. Hold it up to a light and see for yourself!

I like Guinness but I like Murphy's even more.
